All the abortion info you need to know
With Tiller’s recent murder, there’s been a whole lot of slandering of the pro-life crowd. But whether or not anti-abortion activists are peaceful (and I assure you that if they weren’t, Tiller’s assassination wouldn’t have made the front-pages), I think most media outlets aren’t just missing the point of the abortion debate: they’re purposely using this event as a red-herring for propaganda purposes. So here’s a little information that everyone should know about abortion itself.
American women have abortions for all kinds of reasons, but according to ABC news, the most frequently cited–and taking up an overwhelming majority of cases–are “not being ready for a child right now,” already being a single parent, and “unfulfilled educational goals (1).” So where does this place rape and incest? Less than 1% of all total abortions (1). Mostly, children were aborted for convenience.
Furthermore, people need to know that over one in five children are aborted in the US, but that this isn’t due to teenage pregnancy (2). Actually, teenage pregnancy rates are incredibly low, with most abortions being had by women of color, generally in their 20’s and 30’s (3). Actually, teenagers only comprised 6% of all abortions in 2004 (3). So the reader needs to understand that abortions aren’t being committed by reckless kids crossing state borders out of fear, but rather being committed by older women who almost always cite factors of inconvenience.
This being understood, the following contains pictures of what an abortion actually involves. This shows legal abortions after they’ve been completed, and some partial-birth abortions in progress, so I would advise the reader to brace themselves for absolute horror.
THIS IS NOT A CALL FOR THE READER TO AVOID SEEING THE FOLLOWING. If you think you’re going to be disgusted by seeing severed limbs and heads, then you must understand that you recognize these babies are human beings, and you thus belong on the pro-life side. If you refuse to see these photos, you either already understand the grotesque procedure that this involves, or are so deluded as to refuse reality for the purpose of your own political considerations.
And this, my dear readers, is all you need to know about abortion.

Thank you for posting. A lot of people should look at this. I cannot believe someone can call themselves “pro-life” if they themselves are bombing and shooting.

This post would be much stronger if it addressed some of the societal implications of abortion.

David and Sharon,
Thank you for the feedback! As far as David’s comment goes, I actually have another article about the dangers of prohibiting abortion, and how it could lead to massive increases in violence. If you’re interested, take a look :)

And thank you, by the way, for addressing a serious concern!
